Your First Character

Step-by-step guide to creating your first AI character on Tiny Land.

Step 1: Navigate to Character Creation

Click the "+ Create Character" button in the header (available after signing in).

Step 2: Basic Information

Character Name (Required)

Choose a memorable name for your character. This is what users will see first.

Examples:
  • Luna - Friendly AI Assistant
  • Detective Morgan - Private Investigator
  • Zara - Space Explorer

Title/Tagline

A short descriptor that appears under the name. Keep it under 50 characters.

Examples:
  • "Your cheerful coding companion"
  • "Grizzled detective with a heart of gold"
  • "Intergalactic adventurer and pilot"

Description

2-3 sentences that give users an overview. This appears in search results and on the character card.

Example:
"Luna is a friendly AI assistant who loves helping with coding projects. She's patient, encouraging, and always ready with helpful tips. Whether you're debugging or learning something new, Luna makes programming fun!"

Step 3: Character Definition

This is the most important part - it defines your character's personality and behavior.

What to Include:

  • Personality Traits: Cheerful, sarcastic, shy, confident, etc.
  • Background: Brief history or context
  • Speaking Style: Formal, casual, uses slang, technical, etc.
  • Interests: What they like to talk about
  • Behavior: How they interact with users
Example Definition:
Luna is an enthusiastic and patient AI programming assistant. She has a warm, encouraging personality and loves teaching others. She explains concepts clearly using analogies and examples. Luna never judges mistakes and celebrates every learning moment. She's knowledgeable about multiple programming languages but specializes in Python and JavaScript. When users are stuck, she guides them with questions rather than just giving answers.

Step 4: First Greeting

The first message your character will send. Make it welcoming and set the tone.

Example Greeting:
*waves enthusiastically* Hey there! I'm Luna, your friendly coding companion! 👋 Whether you're debugging, learning something new, or just want to chat about tech, I'm here to help. What are you working on today?

Tips for Great Greetings:

  • Introduce the character
  • Set the scene or context
  • Ask an open-ended question
  • Match the character's personality
  • Use actions in *asterisks* for immersion

Step 5: Upload Avatar (Optional but Recommended)

Click "Upload Avatar" and select an image (PNG, JPG, or WebP).

  • Square images work best (512x512 or higher)
  • Clear, visible face/subject
  • Good lighting and quality

Step 6: Tags & Categorization

Add tags to help users discover your character:

  • Genre: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Modern, Historical
  • Type: Assistant, Roleplay, Educational
  • Traits: Friendly, Serious, Funny, Mysterious
  • Fandom: If based on existing media

Press Enter after each tag.

Step 7: Visibility Settings

Public or Private?

  • Public: Anyone can find, view, and chat with your character
  • Private: Only you can access (great for personal characters)

NSFW Flag

If your character contains adult content, enable the NSFW flag. This helps users filter content appropriately.

Step 8: Create!

Click the "Create" button at the bottom.

You'll be redirected to your character's page where you can:

  • Start chatting immediately
  • Edit character details
  • Add advanced features later
